The goal of this project was to make filming action sports much easier for consumers.  To accomplish this we came up with the idea of mounting an action camera (GoPro, Sony action cam or any other compatible camera) on a quadcopter platform.  Now this could be useful by itself, but it would require a pilot to actually fly the quadcopter to take the videos for you.  We wanted to take this idea a step further and make the quadcopter autonomous, so that it will be able to follow a person and film them without any assistance.  To accomplish this we first had to create a quadcopter that would serve as a stable platform capable of carrying the camera as well as additional computing equipment.  After creating and testing the quadcopter platform we would then begin to implement the hardware and software to make the aircraft autonomous.  The autonomous platform will work through the use of a color sensing camera that will act as the eyes of the aircraft.  This camera will be able to learn a color code that the user of the quadcopter will then wear.  Based on where the camera sees the color code it will tell our flight controller to control the quadcopter.  By doing this we are able to have the quadcopter follow a person so that it can film the amazing things that they are doing.
